Friends are Like Colors

Author's Note: Friends mean a lot to me and others also. They are like a bubble of security and hope. They mean a lot and show what kind of person you are.

Friends are like colors, they're bright and spontaneous or dull and shy and then there are the likable ones. I have many friends in and out of school. I can trust them and they can always come to me when something happens. Friends are an important part of life, they keep you going, push you to your goal. Reassure you and comfort you. It doesn’t matter who they are. It matters if you can trust them and they can trust you.

What Books Mean

Author's Note: Books are something that we revolve on, answers to questions, places to go, homework questions. Books are important to our world and they mean a lot.

Books are like a another world on pieces of paper. Books mean a lot to people, they can be a memory or a just a geography book. They started to become a part of the the Egypt society about 5,000 years ago. They were first made on clay tablets. Even kids at school would write their homework on the tablets and would have to bring a “book” home. Next they actually revolved into books and the pages were made from papyrus. Which is a type of plant that would grow by the Nile River. Now a days they are just on regular paper or the new craze is Nooks and Kindles. You can download books electronically on the device. I think that it would be a shame if we would get rid of books, but the way our world is revolving into the future I can tell that we are going to lose something dear to us.

Symbolism Piece

Author's Note: This was an interesting topic/ piece that we had to do. It was fun to express our feelings on what we thought something meant. I really didn't enjoy the story but, it was FULL of symbolism. Enjoy! Please leave a comment on how we did!!!

A Rose for Emily

By: Becca C, Liana J, and Chloe K.

Rose – Love, and that looks can be deceiving.
Love – Roses are elegant and pretty and it’s something you get on valentine’s day.
Looks can be deceiving – Roses are beautiful but they also have thorns which are painful.
February – Harsh
Harsh – Winter can be cold and harsh.
Stairways – Creepy, Falling
Creepy – Sometimes when you walk up the stairs they make a creeking noise and it scares Liana.
Falling – You never know if you are going to fall up or down the stairs so you never know what’s coming
“Her voice was dry and cold” – Old, Out of Breath, Cold outside, Mean, Worn, Harsh
Old – Old ladies have old little squeaking voices
Out of Breath – Old ladies have no breath – you can just picture it in your mind.
Cold Outside – Sometimes in the winter the air is more dry and it is not humid
Mean – Old ladies have really high pitched voices or really low voices like “get over here young lady!”
Worn – Because old ladies are old!
Harsh – Long pointy nails, and they have harsh voices!
Rat – Sneaky
Sneaky – Old Emily is very miscellaneous
Snake – Slither
Slither – Emily can easily get out of things – like her taxes
3 gray beards – old men involved, wise
Old men – They’re ore wise and they can control things and they have more experience. They have more stories to tell.
Wise – Old men are wise and smart.
Midnight – Crimes, Important meetings
Crimes - Because no one can see them in the dark and everyone is asleep and it’s dark.
Important meetings - You can’t see and nobody knows about it and it’s a time where everyone’s quiet.
Gray – Ancient, Dull, Not Exciting (a.k.a. boring), Depression
Ancient – because the story seems like the 70’s and ancient means the 70’s - It’s kinda like slavery time.
Dull – All color has been sucked out of it and it’s just not fun to look at
Not Exciting – Which is more funner? Pink or gray? Those are your options!
Depression – I think depression is upsetting, and gloomy, poopy

Spring District Writing Assessment

                                                     Someone to Turn to

There is a choice to be one’s friend and a choice to not. But without friends you would be a loner. Without friends there is no security, no bubble. In the book Someone Like You. Halley and her best friend Scarlet spend a wild summer together full of trust and heartbreak. Scarlet’s boyfriend dies in a car motorcycle accident, Scarlet is heartbroken and is also carrying his baby. Halley on the other hand meets a mysterious boy named Macon, he is always skipping school and sometimes is halfway across the country and Halley starts distancing herself from her parents. In the end Scarlet delivers a baby girl and Halley and Macon break-up. This book has a lot of symbolism showing that they will always be by each other’s side. Friend’s are important in life; without them we would probably not get far down the road to come.

All my friends are mostly people who I go to school with. My family and cousins are close too. It’s like I have a bubble of friends like Scarlet and Halley. They both had other friends but they were always together. Cousins can be part of the bubble to, when I’m trying to get through hard times I have my cousins to turn too. Halley did to in the book she would call her cousin and talk to her. They make me laugh and enjoy myself a little bit more. Ever since my grandma passed away we have gotten even closer. Over the summer they are always at our house or we are at their house. There are other inspirations too such as teachers.

A man named Stephen Hopson told his life story about being bullied and having trouble hearing. Kids at school would verbally hurt him and sometimes slap him across the head. The story was sad and hard to read, but in the end he won the battle with the bully and was the most popular kid of the school. All because of a fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Jordan. How charming is that?

I read about this story on the internet but it hit me write in the heart. People around you can make a difference and so can you. Stand up for someone and you can help a friend. Like I said without friends you would be lost in this world. And would have no one else to turn too.

Trusting Your Gut

Author's Note:  This essay has two stories full of people that I know especially family who have trusted there gut, and me two. I wasn't really sure how to connect to this book but I knew it had some kind of meaning and I tried to put it out there. If you can, try and leave a comment for me so I can edit it in the end.

A thriller of mystery with a twist of relationship is a great route to go with a book like A Little Less Girl by Tess Oliver. When Dani and her mother come to live in a little town once where her cousin Amy and Grandma lived. Her cousin Amy supposedly killed herself due to hurtful words from the mouth of her prince charming Jake West. Dani is so upset about what Jake did to Amy, but that is just the beginning. Dani is so sure that Amy didn’t kill herself it’s unlike her to do that; she was a very humorous and bubbly person. In the end it turns out that she didn’t kill herself it was all a mistake. Trusting your gut is good to do in important times, especially if the facts are all laid out for you.

When I was about 5 years old my parents my brother Owen and I went to the Wisconsin State fair. It was getting dark out and I was following my parents to the ride area. I was really excited to get on one of the big kid rides because I was tall enough back then. I guess I fell behind because I was looking at something (I don’t really remember), when I turned around thinking that my dad was behind me. But he wasn’t I started to freak out! I wasn’t sure what to do. For some odd reason my gut was telling me that I need to stay right where I am, I knew my parents were going to figure out that I was gone and would come looking for me. I was right my parents did notice and came for me. The whole time I did not cry or feel any emotions, I just trusted my gut. I bet a hand full of other people have had this happen to them, as well.

Like my mom, my mom was on her way to her work-out place and on her way out of the drive-way she was driving slowly because she was talking to my dad. At the time there was snow on the ground and it was cold so she was sitting there letting the car warm up. She made it to the place and got out and went inside. She was at least 20 minutes into her work-out when for some reason she turned around and looked outside, and to look outside you have to really turn around. And right then and there one of our chickens spitty ran under the car! My mom was so shocked and stunned, at the time one of the trainers walked into the room. And my mom said to him “do you want to see something that you will never see again? Look under that” He looked at my mom in surprise and asked what it was. My mom said “that’s one of my chickens from home”. He looked at her again and then walked away. Then she went outside and grabbed her from under the car and put her into the back and continued her exercise. And to make it even funnier it was on Friday the 13th! When my mom told me I went outside and look for prints on the roof, and on the sides and back of the car. There was nothing but it that story I will never forget.  It was the funniest thing! But the reason for this story is that my mom for some reason had a feeling, a gut feeling that she needed to look out the window. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and it can be a miracle or a tragedy. But things do happen to people for a reason and that’s just how life works. Without interesting stories and being able to predict the next day would lead to a boring life.

Reaching for the Stars

Author's Note: Everyone is able to succeed only if you try, trying is the key to everything. It's like opening a new door and your ready to explore. I like this post the most, it says a lot of what I think. So if you enjoy it please comment on it, I like to see what others believe.

Lily Sanderson is a regular girl that lives in Sea view with her Aunt Rachel and goes to school like every other teenager, but in the ocean she is a total different girl. She is the becoming Queen of Thalassinial which is the Mer world of Sea View. No one knows except her best friend Shanon and her new boyfriend Quince. Tera Lynn Child's does a good job with making sure all the characters have their moments to shine in the book Fins are Forever. Mermaids are very appealing; because of them they can change the way we see the ocean and all the life within it and you need to work to make that happen. Reaching for your dreams is a great way to help you succeed in life.

Like all kids Lily has school everyday, but when her bratty little cousin comes to stay. Lily is so overwhelmed and afraid that she will fall behind. She is trying to become a Marine Biologist to help her Kingdom for above. But she doesn’t know that Dosina and a guppy hod friend have a plan to stop her from staying on land. In the end she decided to become the Queen. Her boyfriend Quince became a merman and all is marvelous.

My goal in life is to become a Veterinarian, I have lived and worked with animals all my life. I have chickens, turkeys, one dog and a bunny at home, I go turkey and deer hunting too. As you can see, I have learned about animals through books and the knowledge from my parents. This is a big goal for me, it means that I will have to put a lot of effort in my grades and make sure that they are always pleasing.

If anyone can succeed in life it would be Albert Einstein, he proved everyone wrong about life itself. He was a full blown German boy, and so were is parents. When he was little and went to school he was one of the smarted kids. But when he was trying to prove his theories later in high school teachers would shatter his dreams. Despite all that he was the one who developed the theory of general relativity, effecting a revolution in physics.

If you ever had a doubt about anything forget that, live life to the fullest and get out there and reach for the stars, it’s your destiny don’t let anyone get in your way!
